NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City released information yesterday in the journal Neurology on their recent study. They looked at brain scans to see if there could be early signs of brain changes that are seen with Alzheimer’s.
This study involved looking at scans of 52 people. The group of people that had both parents diagnosed with Alzheimer’s showed the highest Alzheimer’s related abnormalities.
So what does this mean? Nothing definite; but maybe something. Obviously the research will need to continue. Maybe this will lead into being able to diagnose Alzheimer’s years before the disease takes hold with the symptoms. It’s definitely worth following up with this type of research.
